Praisefest and WYD 2023 Launch |
On Friday April 29 10 girls from years 9 and 10 participated in the Broken Bay Diocese Praisefest. About 150 young people from across the diocese attended. The night included Portuguese Chicken, contemporary Christian Rock music, Inspirational speeches, interactions with the Bishop, Adoration and the 2023 World Youth Day was launched. This was a fun night of singing, dancing, praying with Bishop Anthony. World Youth Day will occur in August 2023. The pilgrimage will travel through Italy, Florence, Siena, Assisi and Rome. Then make its way to Lisbon in Portugal. This is a great opportunity for students to get on a plane and have a spiritual encounter with many other young Christians from across the earth. Please watch the Launch video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhsDmNrYboE In speaking about WYD 2023 Pope Francis has said ““Do not live on the returns, on what has been done in the other meetings,” he said. “You have to create the meeting. If you are not creative, if you are not poets, this meeting will not work, it will not be original, it will be a photocopy of other meetings.” Lisbon, a city of 505,000 people, is around 75 miles from Fatima, one of the world’s most popular Marian pilgrimage sites. Pope Francis added “I pray that this meeting may be a fruitful one. May each one of us leave better than we arrived. I ask you, please, to pray for me, because I also need you to support me with prayer.” “See you in August,” he concluded. Mercy students come to World Youth Day 2023 in Portugal! |
