On the 8th of March, we celebrated International Women’s Day, and Year 11 portfolio leaders attended the NSW Catholic Schools International Women’s Day Breakfast. Upon arrival, there were already many student leaders from Catholic schools, as well as many other women who attended to listen to the Minister for Environment and Water, Tanya Plibersek. Ms Kayrooz accompanied Year 11 Mercy Prefects and it was an amazing experience, where we sat down for breakfast with many of the sisters from the following congregations: Charities, Good Samaritan, and Mercy as well as important women, who hold leadership roles in Catholic education in NSW. Tanya Plibersek spoke about the foundation of the Catholic education system in Australia and how many unrecognised nuns contributed to our current education system. She acknowledged the successes and failures that the Church and Sisters perpetrated to change and better education for all young women.
Year 11 were blessed with this amazing opportunity and had a wonderful experience.
