Teaching Learning

Resource Centre

The Resource Centre actively supports teaching and learning at Mercy Catholic College.

It provides members of the College community with access to information via a wide range of resources and in a variety of media, including print, digital and online in a technology-rich setting.

Our focus is on developing students Digital Literacy skills in the areas of information literacy, critical thinking and information technology in a dynamic environment which is adaptive and embraces change.

Classes have the opportunity to work with the Teacher Librarian to develop their research skills, and undertake Guided Inquiry tasks.

The Resource Centre places great importance in its role in strengthening students literacy skills, by promoting and encouraging students interest in recreational reading and developing an appreciation of quality literature.

Students have the opportunity to participate in the lunchtime Hufflepuffs Book Club and the Mercy Pius Book Club, in addition to the Premier’s Reading Challenge.

Students are provided with the opportunity to undertake a leadership role through the Resource Centre by becoming a Library Monitor.

The Resource Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm including before school, lunchtime and after school.
