Years 7 and 8

During the first two years of secondary education, students access a broad range of courses that provides the foundational knowledge and skills for further study in subsequent years.

Targeted literacy and numeracy benchmarks across Year levels and within each Key Learning Area, provide a significant focus for student development in securing skills for later study.

Year 7 participate in NAPLAN Testing in May of each year.

The Metacognition Program offered in Year 7 seeks to provide students with a range of skills in alternative thinking and problem solving strategies.

Students in Years 7 and 8 complete a range of mandatory courses:

  • Religious Education
  • English
  • Mathematics (Graded in Year 8)
  • Science
  • History
  • Geography
  • Visual Arts
  • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
  • Italian or French (elective Year 8 only)
  • Music
  • Technology
